Tamara & Paul Lopes

Our Story

Paul and Tam met through a mutual friend, Jamila Morgan back in 2006. Our marriage is kind of ironic because Paul was supposed to be Jamila's roomate. A few days before the move-in, Tam expressed to Jamila that she was looking for a roomate. So she decided to move into her place, and that left Paul out in the cold. They finally met a few months later and they have been friends ever since. They became really close friends in October 2007 and started hanging out on a regular basis. In Novemeber 2007, their hanging out became a weekly, sometimes bi-weekly, event.

This part of the story is still a blur for the both of them. Some time in December of 2007 their friendship turned into curiosity and eventually be came a serious relationship. When, why, or how that happened, they don't know. All they know is that one day they were "just friends" and the next they were interested in being more.

On January 3, 2008, Paul wrote Tam an old school note. It read: Will you be my girlfriend. Yes No or Maybe, with little hearts next to each choice. She colored the heart next to yes with a red crayon and that was the begining of their relationship.

Right away they both knew that they would on eday be married. They began building our lives together. They traveled to Las Vegas, New York, Monterey, and Orlando . In Februrary 2009, they moved in together, taking another step toward our goal.

In November 2009 they planned another trip to Las Vegas to celebrate one of Tam's best friend's wedding,Heather and Chris Lam. On November 8, 2009 Paul took Tam to the top of the Eiffel Tower in Las Vegas at the Paris Casino (not the real Eiffel Tower!!!!!!) , and asked Tam to marry him. Tam was very surprised and expecting it at all. She quickly answered "yea!"

They originally planned on waiting until February 26,2011 to be legally married, but as most of you know, Tam's mom is very sick. They wanted to make sure that she saw her daughter get married, so on February 26,1010 they said their vows in a Martinez Courthouse in front of 20 guests.

Paul and Tam have always wanted to get married on a beach in the Caribbean, although ironically, neither of them can swim very well! Paul and Tam decided to continue planning a symbolic ceremony in Jamaica to make sure they got their dream wedding.

A Special Message From Us

Hey everyone!!
Thanks for visiting our wedding website. We want to thank everyone for their love and support. And would also like to add that we understand if you cannot make it to Jamaica to celebrate with us. This economy has us all struggling and we understand if it is too much to commit to.

We decided to go with an unconventional registry. Since we have been legally married and living together for a while, we don't really need much. Also, it would be very difficult to transport gifts home on the airplane. At the top of the page is a link to our registry which will include contributions to our honeymoon, spa donations, and other fun things. We ask PLEASE DO NOT BRING GIFTS TO JAMAICA!!! If you would like to give us a gift, please contribute online on our registry, or with cash or a gift card!!!

Love You All,

Paul and Tam Lopes
